Stagehand uses Stripe which is a payment platform that enables the audience to send payments/tips using a credit card. In the same way that any business that accepts payments via credit cards are charged transaction fees, Stagehand also incurs those fees so we need to pass those on to the user. The model that Stripe uses is complex and includes both a monthly per-artist and per-transaction fees. To try to keep it simple, Stagehand charges a flat fee of $0.30 plus 5% per transaction. As an example, a $20 tip from the audience would translate to $18.70.
